Inspired by My Grandmother's frontal lobe dementia , 'Are you my daughter?' prints have been developed by reusing shapes and stretching images and fabrics to create repetitive imagery and distorted compositions. In the last year or so of her life her communication was limited to a couple of familiar phrases, one being 'are you my daughter' and the other being a song, 'john browns body lies molding in the grave'. Limited to this vocabulary all emotional response and acknowledgement was given through these words. Using this premise, I wanted to portray images that only have a few simple elements and place them into diverse compositions. We are a mirror of ourselves, we hear what we want to!

Watch your thoughts, they become your words
Watch your words, they become your actions
Watch your actions, they become your habits
